The law behind the click of your mouse!

If I said,

The time to acquire a target is a function of the distance to and size of the target.

You would reflect, and say, obviously, there is a difference between shooting an elephant and an ant!

But would you think of applying the same principle to design the size of the mouse pointer and the size of the icons on your computer screen? Fitts' law, as it is called, enables us to achieve this leap in Human Computer Interaction.
